Commencement 2021

Class of 2021

Class of 2021 Families:

South Park High School looks forward to celebrating the graduating class of 2021. Soon, our seniors will complete their secondary education. As the end of the school year draws closer, this information should be helpful in planning your next few weeks. Please note that receiving this information does not confirm your graduation (final grades and attendance will be taken into consideration).

Last Week of School

Year-end exams and textbook and Chromebook collection will take place the week of May 24. All seniors enrolled in in-person learning will come to school on Friday, May 28. That day, seniors will go through their usual schedule of classes and be treated to a cookout lunch.

Students must return their Chromebook, charger, books, calculators, athletic equipment, etc., by May 28. Seniors who do not have debts and fines cleared by June 11, 2021 will not receive their diploma at Commencement. Parents/guardians, please remind your senior of this important detail.

Senior Recognition Virtual Ceremony

South Park High School will recognize members of the Class of 2021 during a virtual ceremony on South Park TV and YouTube on Tuesday, June 1 at 7 p.m. During this ceremony, seniors who have achieved various honors or earned awards will be recognized. The YouTube link will be shared with families the day of the virtual ceremony.

Commencement Practice

All seniors must attend Commencement practice which will be held on Tuesday, June 8; Wednesday, June 9; and Thursday, June 10. Seniors are to park at the high school and walk up to Eagle Stadium by 7:30 a.m. Practice will conclude at approximately 9:30 a.m., and seniors will be dismissed after practice each day. In the event of inclement weather, seniors and their families will be notified that practice for that day will be cancelled.

Caps, gowns, and tassels will be distributed on Wednesday, June 9 following Commencement practice. They are to be maintained neatly for Commencement.

Commencement 2021

Commencement for the South Park High School Class of 2021 is scheduled for Friday, June 11, 2021 at 6 p.m. at Eagle Stadium. With gathering restrictions scheduled to be lifted on Monday, May 31, 2021, tickets will no longer be required to enter Eagle Stadium for Commencement. We’re thankful these restrictions will be lifted in time for Commencement so all family members and friends can attend and celebrate the Class of 2021 with us.

Seniors are to report to the stadium fieldhouse at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 11.

In the event of inclement weather on Friday, June 11, the ceremony will be moved to Saturday, June 12 at 11 a.m. at Eagle Stadium. Should a weather-related postponement be necessary, we will notify families via phone and email of the postponement of that evening’s ceremony by 1 p.m.

Parking will be available at the top stadium lot off of Ridge Road and in the South Park High School parking lot. The lower stadium parking lot is reserved only for accessible/disability parking for those with a valid permit. Those requiring accessible/disability parking or seating must call the high school office by June 1.

Eagle Stadium gates will open one hour prior to the beginning of the ceremony.

Per the order from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the guidance from the CDC for large outdoor gatherings, face coverings for spectators are required.

The Commencement ceremony will be live streamed on YouTube. A live stream link will be emailed to families on the day of Commencement.

The recommended dress for Commencement should be as uniform as possible, consisting of:

Ladies: A very light-colored or white dress that will not puff out the gown, white shoes, no

flip-flops or tennis shoes.

Men: White shirt, dark tie, dark trousers, dark socks, black or dark dress shoes, no

flip-flops or tennis shoes.

(Students wearing flip-flops, sneakers, jeans, or shorts will not participate in Commencement. Additionally, students are not permitted to decorate their caps.)

M&M Photography will photograph our graduates during the ceremony. Click here for a link to order Commencement photos from M&M Photography online.

Commencement represents a major step in the lives of the graduates. It is hoped that participants and their guests will allow the program to be completed with a dignified, reserved, and serious fashion. We need the help of parents and friends, especially to maintain an environment conducive to a quality Commencement. Applause should be withheld until all members of the class have been recognized. The audience is asked to remain seated for the entire ceremony. The district’s code of conduct remains in effect. Police will be in attendance. Poorly-behaved individuals and those failing to adhere to procedures and protocols will be removed without prior warning.

Additional information will be shared with families as needed.

Congratulations, Class of 2021!
